Glass Air Fryers: Ninja Crispi and Other Models Compared on Specs

A glass air fryer cooks in a see-through glass container instead of a coated metal basket. Ninja’s Crispi line comes in portable, countertop and dual zone versions. Fritaire and Gourmia also sell glass models. Capacities range from a 6-cup container to 8 quarts across two drawers, based on maker specs.

“Not stated” means the maker’s page did not publish that spec when we checked. We did not fill those gaps with estimates.

Ninja Crispi: the portable original

The Crispi (FN101) pairs a PowerPod heating unit with two glass containers: a 6-cup small batch container and a 4-quart large batch container. Ninja says the 4-quart container fits a 4-pound chicken. It comes with two storage lids, two crisper plates and a container adapter, and measures 11.5 by 9.76 by 11.81 inches.

Ninja describes it as a portable cooking system. The Crispi Pro FAQ adds that the original Crispi does not let you change the cook temperature; each function runs at a preset.

Ninja Crispi Pro: the countertop version

The Crispi Pro is a stationary unit with a modular base that moves to fit three container sizes. The 6-quart and 2.5-quart containers come in the box; the 4-quart is sold separately. The AS101 series has six functions (Air Fry, Max Crisp, Recrisp, Roast, Bake/Proof and Dehydrate) and the AS100 series has four.

Ninja lists the materials in detail:

• Containers: borosilicate glass with BPA-free plastic handles.
• Crisper plates: aluminum with a nano-ceramic coating, described as PFAS free.
• Lids: BPA-free plastic.

Ninja says all food contact surfaces are designed without PFAS and PTFE. It also says no preheating is needed, and that only Ninja CleanCrisp containers work in the Crispi Pro.

Ninja Crispi DualZone: two glass drawers

The DD101 puts two independent 4-quart glass containers side by side, for 8 quarts total. Ninja says it fits up to 8 pounds of wings or 4 pounds of fries. It runs at 1785 watts, reaches 450°F, and has six functions. It measures 16.7 by 11.73 by 11.57 inches, and Ninja lists its weight at 31 pounds.

Fritaire: tempered glass with a self-clean cycle

Fritaire sells a glass bowl air fryer rated at 1300 watts, with a temperature range up to 400°F and a timer up to 60 minutes. Its accessories are 304 stainless steel, including a tumbling basket and a rotisserie. The self-clean cycle works by filling the bowl with 1 to 2 inches of soapy water and running it for 5 to 10 minutes.

Fritaire says there is no BPA, Teflon or PFAS on food contact areas. Its care notes say the accessories (except the motor) are dishwasher safe, while the glass bowl and lid are hand wash only.

Gourmia 7-Quart with glass basket

Gourmia’s GAF7020 is a 7-quart, 1500-watt digital air fryer with a glass basket and 12 one-touch presets. Its product page lists a “nonstick basket and crisper tray” among the dishwasher-safe parts. If avoiding nonstick coatings is your reason for choosing glass, confirm with Gourmia what the tray is made of.

How to care for glass air fryer containers

Glass has its own rules. These are Ninja’s instructions for its CleanCrisp containers, quoted from its support page:

• “Ninja glass containers are freezer safe, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe.”
• “Ninja glass containers are NOT oven/stovetop/broiler safe.”
• “Allow glass containers to completely cool before submerging in water. NEVER submerge hot glass in cool water as damage may occur.”
• “If a Ninja glass container becomes chipped, cracked, or deeply scratched DO NOT use, as container strength may be compromised, and the container could break or shatter.”
• Handles are fixed permanently and “should NEVER be removed. Attempting to remove could lead to breakage.”
• “If hand-washing, do not use abrasive cleaning tools.”

Ninja also advises against stacking other brands’ glass containers with Ninja’s, because scratching or damage might occur.

Glass or nonstick: what to weigh

Visibility. You can watch food brown without pulling a drawer.

Storage. Ninja includes storage lids, so leftovers can stay in the container. The Crispi containers are freezer safe.

Coatings. Glass removes the coated basket, but check the crisper plate or tray. Ninja’s plates carry a nano-ceramic coating, and Gourmia’s page mentions a nonstick crisper tray. For what regulators say about nonstick, read air fryer nonstick coatings and PFAS.

Care. Glass needs gentler handling: no thermal shocks, no oven use for Ninja’s containers, and replacement if it chips.

Buying a refurbished glass air fryer

Whole units on this site include new, new other and refurbished listings. With glass, look closely at the photos and description for chips or deep scratches, since Ninja says a damaged container should not be used. Check that all the containers, lids and crisper plates are included, and confirm the model number so replacement containers will match.
